Slow-Day Pizza Promotions That Actually Work
The five slow-day marketing plays that lift Monday-through-Wednesday revenue 15 to 25 percent without cannibalizing weekend sales. With real numbers.

Every pizza shop has the same weekly rhythm: Friday and Saturday you cannot make pies fast enough, and Monday through Wednesday you are staring at an empty dining room wondering if you should send half your crew home. The right slow-day promotion lifts your weekday revenue by 15 to 25 percent without touching your weekend margins. Here are the five plays that actually work.
Play 1: The one-day loyalty double
Format: “Double points on all orders Tuesday only. This week only.”
Sent Monday night via SMS + push to your loyalty list. No discount, no comp. Just a doubling of the points they were already earning.
Why it works: No margin hit. Zero cannibalization of Friday. Leverages your existing loyalty program (if you have one). Feels like a reward, not a discount.
Real lift: 18 to 24 percent Tuesday revenue increase in a shop with 40 percent+ of customers in the loyalty program.
Play 2: The BOGO half
Format: “Buy one large, get one large half off. Monday through Wednesday. Not valid Fri/Sat.”
Why it works: The offer only unlocks the second pizza — so it drives incremental transaction size, not just visit frequency. Families that would have ordered one pizza now order two.
Real lift: 12 to 20 percent Monday-Wednesday revenue increase, and a measurable increase in average ticket size.
Trap to avoid: Do not run this every week forever. It becomes the new normal. Rotate.
Play 3: The lapsed-customer rescue
Format: Automated SMS to every customer who has not ordered in 30 days. “We miss you. 25% off your next order, this week only.”
Why it works: Reactivating a lapsed customer costs almost nothing (SMS) and the customer already knows they like your food. A 25% discount on a customer who was gone forever is pure incremental revenue.
Real lift: 8 to 15 percent of your lapsed list will order in the next 7 days. On a 500-customer lapsed list, that is 40-75 rescued relationships per campaign.
Play 4: The weather bump
Format: Trigger a “delivery-only $5 off” push notification on any day with rain forecast in your delivery zone.
Why it works: Weather is the biggest single driver of pizza delivery demand. Rain increases willingness to pay for delivery. A $5 discount on a delivery ticket with a $7 delivery fee is still net positive if the increased volume covers your driver time.
Real lift: 15 to 30 percent lift on the specific rainy weekday. Zero cost on days it does not rain.
Play 5: The corporate lunch anchor
Format: Every Monday morning at 9am, an SMS to the top 20 “corporate” phone numbers in your database (the shops on Google Maps within 3 miles of you). “Feed the team today. 15% off orders of 5+ pizzas, delivery in 30 min, order by 10am for noon delivery.”
Why it works: Weekday lunch is dead for most pizza shops. Corporate lunch orders are $150-$400 tickets. One converted office fills your lunch shift.
Real lift: 1 to 2 new corporate lunch accounts per month. Once landed, they order weekly. LTV per corporate account: $8,000 to $20,000/year.
What NOT to do on slow days
- Do not run “20% off everything” on Fridays. You are training the weekend rush to wait for a discount.
- Do not run the same promo every Tuesday for 12 months. Novelty is 40 percent of the lift.
- Do not send more than 2 SMS blasts to the same customer per week. Unsubscribe rates spike above 3.
How Pizza Loop runs these automatically
Pizza Loop’s Boost engine watches the calendar and the weather and fires the right promotion at the right time to the right segment. You set the recipes once; Boost picks which one to run on which day based on what your shop needs.
The alternative is running each of these manually every week, which is why 80 percent of shops just… don’t. Boost turns “operator with time and marketing skill” into “any operator.” That is the point of the product.
